Hello from Stockholm!

It’s time to break the silence. Just when you though that EBT was washed away like a seashell in the sand we bounce back like a kangaroo with rubber feet trapped in an inflatable moonwalk. I managed to relocate to Sweden and finally settled in….now it’s time to get back to business. We are writing more new songs, trying to push sound waves to the boundaries of the human hearing range and then some. We will announce some new show dates for May soon and we also have some good stuff coming at ya this week. I miss you Chicago, but I have to go seduce a tall bond lady named Stockholm now. I’ll write you soon.

Best of 2011

It’s that time of year when the blogs of the web-o-world beat their chest and make their best of lists for the year. Here are some of the lists yours truly have been mentioned on.

Fake Plastic Tunes – Ty Martinez — Top 10 Albums of 2011 - EBT #10

Indie Rock Playlist – Best of 2011 - Oslo is featured on this highly recommended download.

Rudi Ready - Best of 2011 - EBT made the top 50 in no particular order.

Merry Christmas.

A Message From Erik

To all Eight Bit Tiger fans,

I have happy and bittersweet news to share with you. Next February, I will be moving back to Sweden where it all started and began. Some of you know that in addition to being a musician, I’m also an uber-nerd and mad scientist wannabe. I have been offered a position in a Ph.D. program in the department of Medical Technology at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and I’m really excited to start this academic project.

I love the City of Chicago and the people in it. It’s a magical place and the electronic music scene is fantastic. I am going to miss many friends here, and especially Kent and Chris. I’ve been lucky to be in such an amazing place and a fantastic scene. It’s very hard to leave.

What does this mean for EBT’s future? Is this the end of of us? No…let me repeat that in case you missed it….NO! Kent and I will still be making music together, trans-Atlantic style (thank sweet zombie Jesus for the Internet). This will be an experiment in progress, but it is our intent to keep releasing music AND playing a few shows a year. They will mostly be in Chicago and NYC, but may also be in Stockholm….and maybe other places in Europe. We’re excited to see what happens, and while we don’t have all the answers at the moment, we do know that there is plenty of music left in our hearts that we are going to share with the world. This is what we do and we have no plans of ending this. Thank you for supporting us. You have made our dreams come true. We look forward to the future and the evolution of our sound and music.

Cheers to the future!
